Resident Evil 6 Coming to the WiiU?!!!! No…Says Capcom

January 3, 2013 Leave a comment

Capcom in the past have ported their previous Resident Evil games onto many different systems. But it’s looking like the Wii U won’t be getting that same respect. According to a member of Capcom, Christian Svensson, via their forum, Capcom wants to not look to the past for porting, they want to make new fresh games for the WiiU. So owners of the WiiU won’t be seeing any Resident Evil 6 ports any time soon.

But knowing Capcom, there could be an Nintendo Exclusive Resident Evil game in the future…..only time will tell.

EA Shutting Down Online Servers for 12 Games This Month

Starting from tomorrow, EA are shutting down the online servers of a number of it’s games. Starting tomorrow with FIFA Manager 11.

EA have stated “The decisions to retire older EA games are never easy. The development teams and operational staff pour their hearts into these games almost as much as the customers playing them and it is hard to see one retired,” the publisher said. “But as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles to a level–fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles–where it’s no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running.”

Microsoft Registers Three New Streaming Video Services

Microsoft has trademarked three new streaming video services according to Siliconera. For now the trademarks exist only in Europe, but Microsoft has made it no secret it is hoping to evolve the Xbox 360 console into more than just a gaming device. With last year’s hiring of Nancy Tellem, Microsoft took the first step towards creating a host of new original entertainment channels. The three new trademarks could be indicative of the company’s progress in that department thus far.

The trademarks include Xbox Sports, Xbox Fitness, and Xbox Now. Each has been classified for “telecommunication services, namely, providing electronic transmission of video over the Internet.” The trademarks were filed back in October and November, which would place them roughly one month after Tellem took over as president of Entertainment and Digital Media at Microsoft. Just how each of these services will be implemented remains to be seen, but with the branching out of the Xbox Video brand to other devices, like Windows 8, there are plenty of devices that would potentially be able to stream these new channels.

Until Microsoft officially unveils these new entertainment outlets, just what they’ll be broadcasting will remain a secret. What do you think Microsoft has in store?
